My name is Rui Helder Melo Soares, and I’m from Vila Nova de Gaia, a city with a deep connection to the heritage of Port Wine and home to its iconic cellars.
I have a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Coimbra and spent many years working on rural development projects in the Countryside Region of Portugal, including beautiful areas like Piódão, Serra da Estrela, and the Douro Valley.
After some time living and working in the Countryside of Portugal, I returned to Porto and discovered a passion for tourism. This inspired me to pursue a postgraduate degree in Wine Tourism at the Porto School of Hospitality and Tourism.
For the past seven years, I’ve been dedicated to providing private tours, with a special focus on the Douro Region. Drawing on my experience in wine tourism, I created HM Winetours to offer personalized wine experiences that blend Portugal’s incredible wines with its rich history, delicious gastronomy, and vibrant culture.
My goal is to help you create unforgettable memories and share the magic of Portugal’s diverse regions.
